As the society changes, physician-patient relationship is in need of change. Especially, patient centered communication is getting emphasized to satisfy the patients and improve their relationship. A patient centered communication focuses on six principle points. : (1) exploring both the disease and the illness experience; (2) understanding the whole person; (3) finding common ground; (4) Incorporating prevention and health promotion; (5) Enhancing the patient-physician relationship (6) Being realistic. For clinical application of patient centered communication, physician should explore patient¡¯s ideas about what is wrong, their feelings, expectations of the doctor and the effect of the illness on functioning.
